Oxford's Jason Plato is fired up for one of his favourite circuits tomorrow as the Dunlop MSA British Touring Championship rolls into Oulton Park.

Plato is the second most successful BTCC driver around the Cheshire track, with his seven wins, just two shy of the great Alain Menu.

He is third in the standings – 16 points adrift of leader Matt Neal – after podiums at Donington Park and Thruxton backed up his two wins at the Brands Hatch season opener.

A positive test session in his MG KX Momentum Racing car at Snetterton three weeks ago means the two-time champion believes he can now challenge the Honda package.

He said: “We struggled a bit with the car in the last rounds at Thruxton, but as we were searching to perfect the set-up for that track we unlocked certain things that will be of great benefit to us at Oulton Park.

“That means I am confident going there. It is a circuit that rewards a chassis with good balance, and that is what we have now.”

CHIPPING Norton racer Fergus Walkinshaw is aiming for a repeat of his Thruxton pole-setting pace in the next round of the Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup at Oulton Park.
