A brilliant innings by Aadam Samiullah helped Oxfordshire Un-der 15s get their ECB Cup campaign off to an excellent start with a 69-run victory over Shropshire at Stonesfield.

After winning the toss, Oxon reached 269-5 from their 50 overs.

Samiullah, who missed out on a richly deserved century, batted just 97 balls for his 94.

He was ably assisted by Adam Mayho, Niall Devaney and a robust innings from Graham Beer.

In reply Shropshire never got going.

Beer took two wickets, but the pick of the bowlers was off-spinner Harvey Eltham, who claimed 2-21 in his ten overs as the visitors were restricted to 200-9.

A century partnership between Jeremy Kirby and Saim Hussain led Oxfordshire Under 16s to a six-wicket victory over Bucks in their friendly at Bicester & North Oxford.

Bucks, who lost a wicket in the first over, recovered from 92-6 to reach 184 all out.

Tom Costley was the pick of the Oxon bowlers with 3-30, while Hendrick Robyns’s debut yielded 2-25 from nine.

Oxon slipped to 29-3 in reply, but opener Kirby (56) and Hussain (71no) steadied the ship with a stand of 115 and took Oxon most of the way to a victory which was achieved with ten balls to spare.

Oxfordshire Under 14s slipped to an eight-wicket defeat against Northants at Horton House in the ECB Cup.

Put in to bat, Oxon were soon in trouble. Only Max Smith (18) and James Cunningham (10) managed double figures as they were bowled out for 78 in 28 overs.

Northants eased to 79-3 in the 30th over to seal victory.

An excellent spell by Ben Charlesworth helped Oxfordshire Under 12s win by eight wickets against Wiltshire at Marshfield.

Charlesworth took 4-23 as the hosts were bowled out for 14, before Oliver Price unbeaten 50 saw Oxon home in the 3rd over.
