Ian Crosby praised Oxford’s strength in depth after opting to leave out Oxfordshire seamer Tom Geeson-Brown for tomorrow’s Division 2 West trip to Falkland in the Serious Cricket Home Counties Premier League.

Captain Crosby admitted he and director of cricket Rupert Evans were facing a selection headache with Geeson-Brown, who plays the county this weekend, unfortunate to miss out.

“We are picking three spinners again, which is working pretty well in these limited overs matches,” said Crosby, whose side lead the table.

“Tom Geeson-Brown misses out again, which is very unlucky.

“Selection at the moment is really tough.

“He is bowling well, but we just feel that for these win/lose games, an extra spinner is the best way to go.

“Tom is a very important player for us. He will come back into the first team at some point and do well.”

Oxford will be unchanged tomorrow, with opening batsman Vishane Perera another to miss out.

Crosby added: “This season we have a lot more options and competition is stiffer.

“It is making everyone perform.”

Great & Little Tew are also unchanged for their home clash with Farnham Royal.

Tew lost for the first time in the league last week, but are still third.

“There is no panic at all,” said skipper Andy Harris.

“We played really well for threequarters of the game against Cove.

“I am quite hopeful we’ll be OK this season.”

Thad Cooper, Tom Needham and Gordon Harris come into the Aston Rowant side for their trip to Gerrards Cross.

Damian Shirazi and Dan Matthews are ruled out due to commitments with Abingdon School, while Miles Hammond is playing for Gloucestershire.

Rowant captain Wesley Morrick said: “These 50-over games are proving to be quite exciting with everybody beating each other.

“Let’s hope we can build on last week and win again.”
