Damian Shirazi and Tim Morgan put on a club record opening stand with an unbeaten 217 to steer Aston Rowant to a ten-wicket win over bottom club Falkland in Division 2 West.
Shirazi was undefeated on 114 and Morgan 90 not out as Rowant overhauled Falkland’s 213-7 with 4.3 overs to spare.
The pair’s double-century partnership beat the unbeaten 190 made by Tim Miles and Morgan against Gerrards Cross in 2009.
It came after Rowant were left wondering if they had made the right choice after winning the toss and asking Falkland to bat as the visitors cruised to 134 without loss.
However, once debutant Ricky Hopwood trapped Stephen Pope lbw for 49, Rowant hit back strongly.
Pope’s opening partner, Matthew Jones, went on to make 106.
But off-spinner Adam Muttitt picked up 4-30, with each victim falling to a stumping by fellow teenager Dan Matthews to peg Falkland back.
Scores: Falkland 213-7 (50 ovs, M Jones 106, S Pope 49, A Muttitt 4-30), Aston Rowant 217-0 (45.3 ovs, D Shirazi 114no, T Morgan 90no). Aston Rowant 25 pts, Falkland 3
