SOUTH Oxfordshire Amateurs, the county’s premier wandering club, broke new ground with a double-header against Radley College.

It’s the first time in the SOA’s 80-year history that they have played two games on the same day.

In the top match, SOA made 184-5 dec, the major contributions coming from Oxford’s Naeem Bardai (71) and his club captain, Ian Crosby (33). Radley’s 1st XI got home by five wickets in the penultimate over thanks to a classy 68 from Freddie Fairhead, who is on Middlesex’s books.

In the other game, SOA B made 186-5 dec, with Russell Hayes (58) and Dan Swindells (44) leading the way.

Radley 3rd XI secured a draw on 168-9, Tony Jackson taking 3-33, his three wickets coming in four balls.
