Jonny Cater continued his superb form with an unbeaten 88 as Banbury cruised to an eight-wicket win over Oxford in the Home Counties Premier League Twenty20 second round at White Post Road.
Cater, who had made an undefeated 81 in the nine-run defeat by Tring Park in Division 1 on Saturday, carried on where he had left off as Banbury eased past Oxford’s 144-5, which was built around Jamie Perkin’s 65.
Promoted to open the batting in the shorter format, he got off to a flying start as Stuart Hole’s first over went for 18, including a six off the front foot over point.
With Luke Ryan making an unbeaten 28, Banbury clinched victory with 3.4 overs to spare, and will now be at home to Harefield in round three on Sunday, June 16.
