SERIOUS CRICKET HOME COUNTIES PREMIER LEAGUE
GREAT & Little Tew skipper Andy Harris says his newly-promoted side are relishing the challenge of playing in Division 2 West.
The Cherwell League champions have never played at this level before, but Harris said they are looking forward to their new adventure.
“I won’t set a target position, but we will look to win every game we play,” he said.
“I’m not going to be naive to say that I think we will win the league, but if we go into a game not aiming to win it then we probably shouldn’t be playing.”
Seamer Matt Taylor has left after signing a professional contract with Gloucestershire, but former Banbury fast bowler Josh Megson has filled the gap.
Harris added: “We have got a young squad with an average age of 22 and most of us have been here three or four years.
“We have been able to grow and improve as a squad and I feel we are ready for a new challenge.
“During the two years I have been captain, the team has developed dramatically and we are hoping this can continue.
“We have a strong work ethic, learn very quickly and the youngsters have really flourished.
“I think that the 50-over format will suit the way we play, so I’m looking forward to seeing how we fare at the next level.”
