Oxford bid for back-to-back home victories when they take on North Wales Crusaders in Kingstone Press Championship Oneat Iffley Road on Sunday (3).

The match looks like being their biggest test of the season, with Crusaders top of the table with four wins out of four and having reached the Bowl Final of the Northern Rail Cup.

Oxford coach Tony Benson is looking forward to the match, and seeing how far his side have come.

“It is going to be an exciting game,” he said.

“We are looking to play an exciting brand of rugby and I’m sure the Crusaders will be doing the same, so it sets us up for an open match.

“The atmosphere for our opening home games has been electric and the boys are really enjoying the support.

“It’s been fantastic to see so many new fans to Rugby League at Iffley Road and this is what it is all about.”

Oxford captain Alex Thompson has failed to recover from the injury which kept him out of last week’s win against Hemel.

He is joined on the sidelines by Luke Evans, Valu Bentley and Chris Clarke.

JJ Baird faces a late fitness test.
