Oxfordshire girls finished fourth in the 14 & under county cup in Malvern.
Although they lost to eventual winners Middlesex, whose strong team did not drop a match, they did enjoy a 5-1 win against Northamptonshire.
They then put in a battling display before losing 4-2 to highly-rated Hereford & Worcester in the 3rd/4th place play-off.
After losing the singles 3-1, with Lucy Denly Oxon’s only winner, it meant the county needed to win both their doubles matches to send the clash to the shoot-out.
Oxon’s No 1 pair of Taysie Gujral and Evie Phillips won 10-7 in a final set tie-break, but Lucy, teaming up with sister Annabelle lost their second set tie-break as Hereford finished third.
Oxfordshire boys drew their play-off match with Berkshire at a county cup tournament in Southampton.
Having lost to Berkshire 5-1 and Northamptonshire 4-2, they faced arematch with Berkshire in a final-day showdown.
Toby Ryan, who won all three of his singles matches, and Alex Skelly, on his county cup debut, were victorious for Oxon.
The match ended in a draw as time ran out.
