OXFORD City bagged three of the six titles on offer at the Oxfordshire Road Relays in Abingdon.

City won the senior men’s and ladies’ races and were also joint winners of the under 13/15 girls’ category after a dramatic dead heat with Banbury Harriers.

Hosts Abingdon Amblers took the under 13/15 boys’ honours, while Woodstock Harriers and Alchester were the men’s and ladies’ veteran champions.

Abingdon A were the early leaders in the senior men’s race, with Paul Fernandez covering the 3.3-mile course in a flying 16mins 51secs.

David Bruce put City A ahead on leg four with 16.34 – the fastest split of the day – and they took the honours by more than two minutes, despite a finishing leg of 16.48 from Abingdon’s Dan Hamilton.

Livvy Napier got Oxford’s senior ladies’ A off to a great start, recording the top split with 19.58.

City went on to win by two minutes, while their B side secured silver, overhauling Headington Road Runners A, who were led off by Jess Bruce (20.28) on leg two.

Woodstock’s veteran men overhauled City on leg five before James Bolton clocked 17.10 on the final circuit.

Alchester’s ladies took veteran gold and bronze, sandwiching Headington.

Banbury’s Emily Thompson and Oxford’s Izzy Rodriguez crossed the line together as their clubs shared the honours in the under 13/15 girls’ race.

Led home by Michael Fabes, Abingdon took the under 13/15 boys’ honours by more than a minute.
