DAVID Bruce and Jude Craft triumphed in round one of the Mota-Vation Series at Charlton-on-Otmoor.

Running in the colours of first-claim club Highgate Harriers, Bruce clocked 20mins 59secs for the 4.1-mile course.

This saw the doctor, from Oxford, to his first win in the road race series, with Woodstock Harriers’ Steve Frear second in 20.12.

Woodstock’s James Bolton was third and first vet 40 man home in 21.26.

Witney’s Alan Reynolds (24.42) was first vet 50 and Oxford City’s Roy Treadwell (24.58) the vet 60 winner.

The start was delayed by 30 minutes due to traffic jams on the A34, with the men’s and women’s races merged.

This meant Craft (Headington) was 38th in 24.45, taking the first lady overall and vet 35 prizes.

Craft led home a Headington trio, with fellow vet 35 Diane Moore (25.10) second and Jess Bruce (25.16) third and first senior.

Kidlington’s Sue Moreton (29.26) was first vet 45 lady, with City’s Gwyenth Hueter (29.39) the vet 55 winner.

Round two is at Bletchingdon on June 6. Postal entries close on May 30, with no sign-ups on the night.
