Gordon Ross said London Welsh’s final day 33-22 victory over Worcester was a fitting reward for their Aviva Premiership season.

Although relegated, Welsh contributed much in their debut top-flight campaign, winning five matches and going close in many others.

“I think it was just rewards today,” said Ross. “We put in so much effort over the season.

“We have been very fortunate to be well supported by the people of Oxford today and it was great to put in a good performance for them.”

The fly half added: “Our start made a big difference. For whatever reason, we have usually been poor starters.

“We have grafted really hard this week. “We have learnt from the mistakes we made against London Irish and were more clinical with ball in hand and took our tries very well.”

The Exiles’ win came despite yellow cards for Dan Browne, Kirill Kulemin and Ross himself.

“Our discipline has obviously let us down at times,” said Ross.

“Obviously, my yellow card, in particular, was very harsh!

“That wasn’t great and has cost us at times this season, but at the same time, we were down to 14 and scored a try and came out of that period ahead.

“You have got to give the boys a bit of credit for the way they performed in difficult circumstances.”
