OXFORD Harlequins will give German wing Wilhelm Straengh his debut at title-chasing London Irish Wild Geese tomorrow.

The new signing gets his chance as the National 3 South West strugglers seek to upset the odds.

“Wilhelm had a good game for the second team last week and ran in about six tries,” said Quins’ head of rugby Steve Chadbone.

“He will surprise a few down there. He has got some wheels and has fitted in a treat.”

Wild Geese are the amateur club linked to London Irish.

Wing Huw Jones also comes into the side, while Seisoni Tupou reverts to the back row.

Fly half Guillame Bourda is unavailable, so Will Hilton moves to No 10 and Harry Whittington shifts to full back.

Flanker Sam Bennett is rested after suffering a blow to the head in last week’s defeat against Newton Abbott.

Chadbone added: “The boys have had a really good week’s training. There is a real positive vibe going on.

“There is no pressure on us this week.

“Looking at their previous results, they are not running away with teams like at the start of the season.”

Quins released head coach Danny Ligairi-Badham this week for financial reasons, leaving Chadbone, Jamie Cope and Tony Edney in charge.

“The three of us that are there now are quite happy with what we have got,” added Chadbone.

“The confidence is there within the players.”

Henley Hawks could find themselves dropping to third place in National 2 South after this weekend’s fixtures.

Neither Hawks nor Chinnor play, but Redruth would supplant Henley in second should they gain a bonus-point victory over bottom club Barking.

Lock Charlie Bennett ret-urns for Witney’s trip to Newbury in South West 1 East.

Prop Jamie Burke and flanker Josh Rihan come in on the bench.

Victory would see Witney pull decisively away from the relegation zone where Newbury occupy the final place.
