PAUL Casey marked his 150th cap for Oxfordshire 2nd and his 199th county appearance by helping them to a 9-6 victory over Warwickshire 3rd at Solihull.
He will win his 200th cap for Oxon’s first team at home to Buckinghamshire 2nd on Sunday and will be presented with a trophy after the final game of the season.
Casey secured a men’s doubles point with Simon Gaines and a convincing mixed doubles victory with Claire Hawtin as Oxfordshire took the County Championships Division 4 Central clash.
Kathyn Schutterlin, who finished with a 100 per cent record, was the only visiting player to win a singles rubber as Oxon trailed 3-1.
Casey and Gaines gained the visitors’ only men’s doubles win, but Emma Cramond and Hawtin, plus Schutterlin and Clare Hamilton took all four rubbers to level it at 6-6.
The mixed doubles saw James Barclay and Cramond battle to a straight sets win, before Hamilton and Gaines and Casey and Hawtin sealed the spoils.
- OXFORDSHIRE’S first team were edged out 8-7 by Warwickshire 2nd in Division 2 Central at Bartholomew School, Eynsham.
Maria Ioannou was the only home player to secure a singles win and teamed up with Simone Fulle to bag a ladies’ doubles brace.
Sarah Torgersen and the returning Helen Palmer also secured two ladies’ doubles wins.
Despite Ioannou and Peter Frobisher, plus Palmer and James Barclay, bagging mixed doubles successes, Oxon came up just short.
