HEADINGTON Conservative Club’s Keith Hollis registered his 15th successive victory from 16 games in Section 2 of the Johnsons Buildbase Oxford League, but couldn’t save his team from a 3-2 defeat at Berinsfield in Section 1 , writes PETE EWINS.
Hollis defeated Geoff Mace 5,510-3,350, and Graham Mildenhall (3,630) picked up the other point, which keeps his team in second place, seven points behind leaders Gladiators A, who had a free week.
Marlborough crashed 5-0 away to Masons B, where Martin Skyrme (3,190 & 4,850), Chris Webb (7,040), Ernie Smith (4,290) and Nigel Francombe did the damage.
Gladiators B went down 3-2 at home to Masons A .
Neil Cunliffe put Gladiators 1-0 up, before Mick Murphy (5,120), Dave Rose (4,220) and Alan Lowe won the next three games for victory.
Grant Johnson captured the home side’s other point with a 3,500-3,010 win over Maxi McDonnell.
Premier Section leaders Kennington are nine points clear after a 3-2 victory at Vikings.
Alan Oliver (11,140, break 10,100) and Lewis Stratford put Vikings 2-0 in front, Pauline Withey (4,440) and Steven Sheard (9,850 & 12,350) hitting back for victory.
