RED-HOT Oxford City Stars made it six straight wins in Division 2 South with a 13-0 thrashing at basement boys Lee Valley Lions.

Alan Green led the way with a superb four-timer, backed up by further efforts from Sam Broughton (2), Darren Elliott (2), Joe Edwards, Jacob Smith, Dax Hedges, Josh Oliver and Andy Cox.

Netminder Andy Peterson, making his debut for Stars, also had a game to remember with a clean sheet.

The result sees Stars stay third, six points behind leaders Peterborough Islanders, but with five matches in hand.

Peterson made a fine early save as the hosts began well, but Stars soon got into their stride.

A great pass from Joe Oliver found Green in space and he fired home to give his side the lead.

Josh Oliver and James Clarke both picked up penalties for Stars, but despite not being at full strength, Cox and Hedges combined to allow Edwards to score.

Hedges claimed No 3 in the second period as the visitors asserted their authority with some fine play.

Broughton made it 4-0 – his strike causing a delay to proceedings when the home side’s maintenance team were forced to repair the damaged goal.

Further goals from Smith, Green and Elliott saw Stars finish the period 7-0 ahead, and the points were already assured.

It was just a question of how many as the final period got under way.

Broughton scored No 8, before Green fired in a quickfire double to complete his four-timer and reach the 25-goal mark for the season.

Josh Oliver, who had worked hard all game, finally got on the scoresheet, and further efforts from Cox and Elliott sealed the points in an emphatic display.
