Brian French saved Democrats A from an embarrassing defeat at the hands of their B team in Section 1.
The was nothing between the sides going into the final match, but French held his nerve to rack up a 7,050-break and give the A side a 3-2 verdict.
Earlier, Dave Bartlett got the B team off to a good start with a break of 7,240.
But after the first team recovered to take a 2-1 lead, it was left to Steve Huntley to level the scores and set-up a thrilling finale.
In the Premier Section, Didcot Con Club edged to a 3-2 victory over Gladiators A.
Dave Tooke (9,900), Mark Trafford, who is still unbeaten, (17,420 - break 10,140) and Dennis Atkins (7,030) all won for Didcot, with Malcolm Lee and Pete Witney (7,790) winning the Gladiator's points.
Section One side Masons A lost 4-1 at home to Premier side Nelson A.
Ray Sturgess, Keith Sheard, who played the table out with a fine 22,250, and Pauline Withey were among the victors for the away side.
Alan Lowe claimed a consolation point for the Masons.
A1 Pool Club, of Section 3, had a fine 3-2 home win against the Dolphin B, of Section 2.
Simon Ellam was the top-scorer on the night with 6,600.
In the same section, leaders Headington Con Club won 4-1 at home to the Cavalier.
Nelson B also won against a higher section team in their 3-2 home victory against the Vikings.
Dave Bye was the Nelson's star performer with 6,780.
