OXFORD City boss Mike Ford is set to give recent signing Josh Mulvany his debut when they host Blue Square Bet North rivals Bishop’s Stortford in their rearranged FA Carlsberg Trophy first-round tie at Court Place Farm tonight (Tues, Dec 4).

Mulvany was an unused substitute on Saturday as City drew 2-2 at home to strugglers Droylsden, but with Liam Malone sidelined with an ankle injury, the former Didcot midfielder is likely to start.

“We didn’t keep the ball well against Droylsden (they drew 2-2) and Josh looks after the ball well,” said Ford. “So he could well make his debut.”

Ford added he may pair new signing Ashan Holgate upfront with Steve Basham as they look to pep up their attack.

The winners travel to either Maidenhead United or Sutton United in the second round on Saturday, December 15.

Oxford City: from Ingram, Mills, Stonehouse, Mulvany, Learoyd, Wilmott, Benjamin, Pond, Holgate, Barcelos, Cook, Ballard, Basham, Stanley, Gunn.

Meanwhile, Banbury United travel to Cambridge City in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division looking to put Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Chesham behind them.
