LYN Jones was left frustrated, despite London Welsh collecting their fourth win of the season.
Welsh’s head coach felt his side deserved to beat London Irish, but it was hardly a display to get him effusing.
“All wins are good wins, aren’t they?” said Jones.
“I don’t think there is much more to take from the game.”
He added: “I thought we were good for the win and Irish were good for a losing bonus point.
“We dropped the ball over the line. My grandmother phoned up to say I could have scored that!
“We also had a pushover try, which wasn’t given.”
Jones said Chris Hala’ufia’s sending-off was unlucky, but felt Welsh did not take full advantage of their superior numbers.
“It was a good tackle, which turned into a suspect tackle,” said Jones.
“Sam Warburton was red-carded for exactly the same incident in last year’s World Cup semi-final.
“It was just unfortunate. I don’t think there was any malice or intent in it.
“Sometimes referees’ hands are tied in these situations.
“It certainly influenced the rest of the game.”
Jones pointed to Welsh’s ill discipline as the reason they did not play better.
“Every time we had the ball, we got penalised for one technicality or another,” said Jones. “You can make what you want from that.”
Jones added: “Winning is important, but we are a side that know we have to improve our performances to be able to finish in the top 11 of the Premiership and then become a successful side.
“Today was hard work for us. I thought we just about got the win.
“We worked hard. I thought our defensive structure was good.”
