Bicester welterweight Daza Usher maintained his unbeaten record with a unanimous points verdict over Cheltenham’s Damien Dinwiddy at the GL1 Leisure Centre, Gloucester.

Usher made it four wins from as many fights since turning professional by winning every one of the four three-minute rounds on the judges’ scorecard.

He said: “I have never trained as hard as I did for this fight and I feel it really showed in the ring. “This match was supposed to be a step-up in competition from my previous contest.

“And with the hard work I put in to training, my coach (Islan Eltuyev) a three-time USSR boxing champion, and my promoter, Keith Mayo, agreed that I made easy work from what on paper should have been an even fight.”

The first round saw both fighters finding their range with the jab.

Usher let his lead hand do the initial damage and brought the back hand power shot into play.

In the next round, Usher used his jab to set his opponent up, before punching to body and head with hooks and uppercuts.

Dinwiddy was clearly feeling the effects of Usher’s efforts in the third round, with reddening around the face and a bleeding nose.

Usher put a number of combinations together, landing a fast four-punch cluster just as the bell went at the end of the round.

The Bicester fighter came out for the final round full of confidence as his high workrate had Dinmwiddy on the back foot.

An uppercut, hook and a backhand combination had Dinwiddy rocking and he looked relieved as the final bell sounded.

Usher was also grateful to his supporters. And he added: “I took over 200 people from Oxford to help balance the crowd, and I really appreciate the encouragement and support they gave me.” He is due to be in action next in Swindon on March 9.
