Police today released images of a man wanted in connection with a shoplifting incident at a petrol station in Benson.

The man shown in the CCTV footage entered the BP petrol station on the B4009 Oxford Road and stole food from the shelves, including six steaks worth more than £50, yoghurts, milk and cheesecakes.

The man then walked out of the store in the direction of the nearby McDonald’s.

The incident happened at 5.10pm on October 30, but the images were only released today.

He is described as white, in his early twenties, with a slim build, approximately 5ft 6in tall, with short dark hair. He was wearing a black coat with a dark-coloured hooded top, black or dark blue trousers and white trainers.

PC Martin Whaley said: “We have made a number of enquiries in the local area and we are now appealing for the public’s help to trace this man.

“I would like to hear from anyone who knows this man, or who has seen him around the Benson or Wallingford area.”
