A GOOD Samaritan has had his car stolen by people he was trying to help.

The theft happened in Williamscot, on the Banbury-to-Daventry road, on Monday. shortly before 10am.

The victim was standing next to his Y-reg Land Rover when a man approached him.

The man pointed to a Vauxhall car parked 100 feet away and said he needed some water for the engine.

The Land Rover owner went into his house to get some water but when he returned, his vehicle and the Vauxhall had gone.

The thief is described as about 22 years old, dark hair, 5ft 6in tall, clean-shaven, and wearing a dark navy bomber jacket, dark trousers, and spoke with a Coventry accent.

PC Ian Bailey said: "Most criminals are opportunists. They take what they can when they see it. I'd urge everyone not to leave their keys in the ignition, even if they live in remote areas."
