TALENTED youngsters are hoping to return the sunshine to Oxford with a production of South Pacific.

Members of RicNic Youth Theatre company are starring in and producing the musical, to run from tonight until Saturday at East Oxford’s Pegasus Theatre, Magdalen Road.

The 16 to 21-year-olds are starring in the production of the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic, set on a pacific island in the Second World War.

Producer John Warner said: “They are having a really good time, they are already talking about next year.”

Blackbird Leys teenager Harry Pudwell, 17, who plays comical Luther Billis, said: “I just love how the whole production is put on by people under 21. It is an amazing experience for everyone involved.”

The former St Gregory the Great Catholic School pupil, who starts at Abingdon and Witney College next month, said: “I have been doing it since I was six, the performing life is my life.”

There will be 7.30pm performances each night and 2.30pm matinees tomorrow and Saturday. For tickets call 01865 812150 or visit pegasustheatre.org.uk
