AN Oxford University law student used her mobile phone to look up suicide websites the day before she died on the A40, an inquest heard.
Oxford Coroner’s Court heard yesterday Vandana Singh, 21, died instantly when she was hit by a car on the Oxford-bound lane, between Wheatley and Oxford, on November 12 last year. But despite evidence she had looked at a number of websites which suggest how to commit suicide, coroner Darren Salter said there was not enough evidence to conclude Miss Singh took her own life. He recorded an open verdict.
Shortly after 10.30pm, the Exeter College student was hit by a Ford Ka driven by Dr Olivia Goodkin, from Oxford, on the A40, near the Thornhill park-and-ride. She was declared dead at the scene.
Consultant pathologist Dr Nicholas Hunt, who carried out a post mortem examination, said Miss Singh, from Cheltenham, died from multiple injuries.
Mr Salter said: “There was nothing Dr Goodkin could do to avoid the collision.”
