A security guard was assaulted at Tesco’s Wallingford Road store in Didcot.
The guard was standing at the entrance to the store, when he challenged a customer after the alarm went off.
The customer became aggressive and pushed his trolley into the guard’s legs and shouted abuse at him.
He was a white man, aged about 60, and of medium build with short, dark hair. He was wearing glasses and had a bum-bag around his waist, blue jeans and a light-coloured shirt.
The incident happened between 6.30pm and 7pm on Tuesday.
Sgt Samantha Lewis, of Thames Valley Police, said: “This man acted inappropriately, he shouted abuse and behaved in a very aggressive manner.
“There were plenty of other customers in the store at the time and I urge them, and anyone with information, to come forward.”
Anyone with information should call Sgt Lewis at Thame police station on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
