CHILDREN from across North Oxfordshire are being invited to turn to the stage and try their hand at acting with Cherwell Theatre Company.

The youth theatre group is staging The Boy Preference in August and is on the look-out for cast members of 12 years and over.

Director Nicki Stevenson said: "The play begins with a boy, Joey, looking out of his bedroom window, only to see some strange glowing figures.

"Are they the 'missing girls'? What makes boys different from girls? How do young people experience the adult world?

"These are just some of the questions explored in the play.

"It is an exciting piece of theatre for our young participants."

The Cherwell Theatre Company wants youngsters from across the area and will present the contemporary play by Elinor Cook at The Mill Arts Centre in Banbury on Friday, August 4, at 7.30pm.

It is part of their play in a week project and will include a week of intense theatre experience for £50.

There will be a chance to develop acting, movement and voice skills as well as technical skills in stage management, lighting and sound during the course, beginning on Monday, July 31 at Banbury United FC in Station Approach.
