Oxfordshire recorded only their second Home Counties League success of the season, with a convincing 132-99 win against second-placed Middlesex at Kidlington BC.
Victories on four of the six rinks gave Oxon a 33-shot winning margin in a fine all-round display.
Sam Watts, David Wedge, Andy Martin and Ian Snowdon lost only five ends in their emphatic 32-8 victory.
Calvin Carpenter’s rink of Adrian Kemish, Paul Skidmore – who was awarded his six-game badge – and county under 25 champion George Schwab took control of their game at eight ends and ran out 29-11 winners.
Oxfordshire’s other winning rinks both enjoyed two-shot successes.
Andy McIntyre, Steve Jones – who received his 100-game badge – Kevin Alder and Alan Ley led from the opening end and held on to triumph 18-16.
Trevor Prew, Richard Jackson, Ian Whelpton and Mike Petersen, who was presented after the game with his 400-game badge came out on top in a thriller.
Leading by eight shots at seven ends, the quartet then found themselves four down with three ends to play.
However, six shots saw them home to a 23-21 win.
The outside rinks were clearly not to Oxfordshire’s liking.
Rob Pink, John O’Shea, Gordon Walker and Paul Sharman were always in arrears in their 20-16 loss.
And the rink of Mike Clarke, Gordon Hooker, Chris Earl and Mark Hancock, were always playing catch-up before finally losing 23-14.
Although the victory provided an 18-4 points scoreline, Buckinghamshire, who are Oxon’s last opponents in four weeks’ time, beat Berkshire to move into fourth spot, one place above Oxfordshire.
