Headington's Remy Clanfield has earned a recall as Oxfordshire open their Middleton Cup campaign against Middlesex at Bush Hill Park on Saturday.

He will play at No 2 in an all-Headington rink skipped by Mark Charlett, with Mick Nash at lead and Jason King at No 3.

Jon Philpott, another Headington bowler, is also recalled to the squad, but is unavailable for the South Section B clash.

The team has been picked from a 32-man squad, which features five new faces, although none of them have made the line-up to face Middlesex.

Thame’s Ade Kemish and Carterton’s Gordon Walker are travelling reserves, and will be hoping to get their chance in the other group games against Isle of Wight, Hampshire and Kent, along with Oxford City & County’s Mark Hancock, Kidlington’s John Hardie and Watlington’s Sam Watts.

Oxon will be looking to repeat last year’s group success, and then go one better by qualifying for the national finals at Worthing, having suffered an agonising 120-118 defeat by Devon in the last eight in 2012.
