Today we talk to Phil Walsh, who volunteers for Oxfam arranging corporate partnerships
WHAT I’M CALLED: Phil Walsh or Titch by my two older brothers who are both 6ft 2in+, while I’m 5ft 7in
MY AGE: 33
WHAT I DO: I run my own business helping companies improve sales and I also volunteer 20 per cent of my time to Oxfam l WHERE I LIVE: North Oxford – by Cutteslowe Park. It’s a wonderful park, a great Oxford secret. Shh! don't tell anyone.
WHO I LOVE: My wife, my family and my friends. I love people.
HAPPIEST YEAR: 2012 has already included a wonderful honeymoon in Spain and Argentina, plus starting my own business, plus I’m about to go on another amazing holiday.
DARKEST MOMENT: Comes before the dawn...
PROUDEST BOAST: I give 20 per cent of my working time away to help Oxfam fight global poverty. I work in the corporate partnerships team with a special responsibility for developing relationship with businesses in Oxfordshire, so if you are interested in a corporate partnership with Oxfam, get in touch.
BIGGEST REGRET: We still have people in the world living in abject poverty.
WEAKNESS: Preparation, I love to feel the pressure of needing to deliver.
LESSON LEARNT: We are a product of our thoughts – think success and you are more likely to spot opportunities to succeed.
DULLEST JOB: I’ve had my share – stacking shelves in the freezer department of a big supermarket, working in a meat packing factory or in the finance office of a mortgage lender – take your pick!
GREATEST SHAME: Not to have started a family yet. I’m really looking forward to being a dad.
LIFE-LONG HERO: Sue Knight. I started reading Sue’s books on neuro linguistic programming (NLP) about six years ago. She is now a treasured friend and mentor.
OLDEST FRIEND: Liam Shine. Liam was my best friend at primary school and I was really pleased to have him speak at my wedding last year.
WIDEST SMILE: That’s a tricky one. I’m told I have the biggest smile. I guess getting home from a great day with clients to find my wife has just opened a bottle of wine and some friends have stopped by to say ‘hi’.
FAVOURITE DREAM: Walking out at Wembley as captain of England and scoring the winning goal in the World Cup Final.
