MOBILE buildings at two Oxford schools are set to stay to offer 'essential' space.
Oxfordshire County Council has applied for planning permission to retain modular units at Larkrise Primary School and West Oxford Community Primary School for another five years.
Documents lodged for the former school, in East Oxford, said: "The condition of this unit is suitable for the next five years.
"As the school is now an academy the responsibility for ongoing maintenance of the building and eventual replacement rests with the academy trust.
"The county council considers it essential to retain these units in order to meet basic need pupil place provision in Oxford city."

Justifying the application for West Oxford, a council officer wrote: "The latest county council forecast for the school’s planning area indicates a rising school age population.
"The county council's education sufficiency and access team considers the retention of this prefabricated modular unit to be essential to accommodate the school's current and potential pupil populations."
