THE new head of an Oxford secondary school has shared his vision with parents ahead of the first day of term today.
Andy Hardy, who is starting his first week as The Oxford Academy's new headteacher, wrote to parents yesterday to reassure them of his aims.
An extract from the letter said: "As a parent of two children I understand the importance of keeping students safe, allowing them to develop as individuals and encouraging them to follow their passion in life.
"I am also aware of the journey of this academy and the excellent outcomes that have been achieved in recent years.
"My role, working closely with our governors, sponsors and staff, will be to ensure The Oxford Academy continues to focus its energy on agreed priorities."
He said he wanted to build on the school's strengths, adding: "I believe that intelligent schools work in partnership.
"Students, parents and teachers all need to support The Oxford Academy for students to thrive, enjoy school and learn socially, emotionally and academically."
Mr Hardy, who was formerly interim head at a school in Bristol, replaced Niall McWilliams at The Oxford Academy.
Today the Littlemore school will start welcoming pupils back after summer, starting with Year 7.
