SOUTH Oxfordshire councillors have each been given £5,000 to give out to charities and community projects.
The district councillors' grant scheme is now open for applications, with a total of £180,000 available for good causes.
Every one of South Oxfordshire District Council's 36 councillors can choose to support projects that will benefit their local community.
Last year, councillors awarded 106 grants worth over £154,000 to projects including community ponds, new football goal posts, play area improvements, new kitchens in village halls, community events, purchasing defibrillators and youth club equipment.
Lynn Lloyd, cabinet member for community services at South Oxfordshire District Council, said: “We’ve committed over £1 million to support our communities this year and have already given away £700,000 to 17 major community projects.
“This scheme supports smaller good causes and offers a quick turnaround on decisions.
