THE boss of a training provider has urged young adults not to fret about results, revealing he left school with no qualifications.

Joe Crossley, chief executive of Qube Learning based at Milton Park, has issued advice following A-Level and GCSE results days.

He said: "Not passing an exam is certainly not a barrier to achieving success in the future.

"I left school without any qualifications but decided to go back and retake the big two, English and maths, which I felt were important."

Qube Learning, which provides apprenticeships, traineeships and short courses, said it is important young people understand the range of career paths available to them.

Mr Crossley said: "Having a plan is key and if you don’t know what you want to do, then think about what you enjoy.

"Once you have an idea of which career path is the right one, building the correct skill set is the next step.

"I don’t think people should assume that school, college and then university is the only path that is a credible one.

"In fact, I think there are many great examples of successful people who have started work early and then gone onto further education later in life."

He said apprenticeships are a 'great ways to build a long and successful career'.
