OXFORD lawyers are planning to 'walk for justice'.

On October 8, Judge Vincent and Judge Lamb will lead the 10km Oxford legal walk to raise money to support free legal advice centres.

The walk is expected to raise more than £5,000 to promote access to justice for the most vulnerable.

Taking part will be lawyers and colleagues from law firms including Blake Morgan, Boodle Hatfield, Brethertons, Clyde & Co, Hedges Law, Lewis Silkin and Royds Withy King along with barristers from Cornwall Chambers and law students and staff from Oxford's universities.

The sponsored walk is organised by the London Legal Support Trust (LLST) and all funds raised support free legal advice in the local area such as Citizens Advice and Rose Hill & Donnington Advice Centre.

Bob Nightingale MBE, founder of LLST, commended the lawyers for taking part in the event.

He said: "In recent years life has become even harder for the most disadvantaged people.

"Austerity has caused hardship among the poorest people and created problems such as debt and homelessness. Often the advice agencies are the only place where those people can get help.

"2013 cuts to legal aid for many areas of welfare law mean that people who can't afford to pay a solicitor can no longer turn to high street solicitors for help with matters such as benefits, employment or disrepair."
