A SERIES of workshops are being staged in Oxford for youngsters to get stuck in to all things theatre.

The New Theatre Oxford is hosting a number of summer sessions during August to cover a range of aspects that go into putting on a show.

The four workshops will look at everything from special effects to technical elements, and stage make-up and performing.

It will start on August 16 at 11am and over to learn about the secrets behind creating realistic looking effects for the stage. There will be make-up demonstrations of cuts, wounds and bruises among others.

The next session will be theatrical stage make-up on the same day from 2pm looking at contouring, highlighting, theatrical eye and lip application and more.

A technical theatre workshop will be held on August 21 for four hours, both at 10am and 3pm.

It will take children through the practical elements of theatre behind the scenes, including lighting and rigging.

The final workshop will be a musical theatre session for both five to 10 year olds and for 11 to 15 year olds.

Other sessions are for over 12s.
