STUDENTS from Oxford have been named runners-up in a national school psychology competition.

A team from d'Overbroeck’s in Summertown came second in the National Psychology Competition last week, which was hosted by Royal Holloway, University of London.

The contest challenged Year 12 students to present a poster plus a three-minute video addressing the question: "How can psychology make the world a better place for future generations?"

Pupils across the UK took part from 21 different schools.

d'Overbroeck’s outlined how psychology could help to solve the obesity crisis, such as understanding how people choose products in food shops or how conformity can influence their decisions.

The school said it was an 'interesting and worthwhile day'.

The winners were from Hugh Baird College in Merseyside.
