"IMMENSE pressure" on GP surgeries across southern Oxfordshire has seen health bosses object to more homes being built.

The Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group has voiced concerns about a planned 91 home development in Sutton Courtenay, near Abingdon, that is due to go in front of decision makers on Wednesday.

In its response to the application, the CCG said: “The unprecedented housing growth across the South and Vale area is putting immense pressure on GP practices and the local health economy. At present we would object on the grounds that effects on the local health economy appear not to have been considered.”

The Granite Partnership want to build the new homes off Appleford Road near a piece of land known as Millennium Common.

Sutton Courtenay Parish Council is also strongly objecting to the proposals because the housing estate could cause further congestion on the roads.

The Millennium Common Trust is also concerned about the impact on wildlife habitats and plant species.

Vale of White Horse councillors are recommended to delegate the decision at the meeting which starts at 6.30pm.
