PUPILS discovered dragonfly larvae and tiny freshwater clams during 'pond dipping' on a floating pontoon.
The activity was part of a fun science day at Chandlings prep school near Kennington, for pupils from Long Furlong Primary School in Abingdon.
Children visited Chandlings last week as part of a national campaign called the Great Science Share for Schools.
Children learnt skills including how to separate dye and how to identify species in the Chandlings pond.
Phillipa Biggs, head of science at Chandlings, said: "We are lucky to have purpose built labs and a lake on site for pond dipping.
"It’s really important to us that we can share this with local primary schools in Oxfordshire and it was fantastic to have Long Furlong Primary School with us.
"All the children really enjoyed it."
