A DIDCOT man has pledged to walk one million steps in July to raise money for ill children.
Lee Cook is repeating his 'Walk Fatboy Walk' challenge to support the Play2Give organisation that has raised £90,000 for the Oxford Children's Hospital and other causes over the last decade.
Mr Cook met the organisation's founder, Andy Baker, while working at Didcot's Sainsbury's in 2014 and has since taken on a number of different challenges to contribute to the group's fundraising total.
He has taken part in Movember, car boot sales and walked six hours cross country while dressed as Santa with sacks of toys for the children’s wards.
He now wants to raise at least £300 by taking part in a 'Walk One in a Million' challenge which will see him average 33,000 steps every day of July to cover one million over the course of the month.
Money raised will go towards the children's hospital and Dorchester-based charity Footsteps, which provides intensive physiotherapy to children with neurological disorders.
Mr Cook predicts that he will be left with blisters and aching feet and has only just recovered from a similar challenge.
But he is motivated by the chance to save and transform lives across Oxfordshire.
