A PARLIAMENTARY candidate has said Cherwell councillors who passed on a review of potential housebuilding to a planning inspector 'should be ashamed of themselves'.

On Monday, Cherwell Council agreed to pass on a partial review of its local plan, including the building of 4,400 homes on the green belt north of Oxford.

Ian Middleton, who will stand for the Green Party at the next general election, said: "Cherwell residents deserve more than this. Those councillors who have simply passed the buck on this controversial and potentially devastating issue should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves."
