A CHARITY battling breast cancer hopes to welcome a record number to a fundraising walk.
Against Breast Cancer, based in Abingdon, wants to recruit hundreds for its Breast Walk Ever event.
The annual walk will return on September 3 and supporters can sign up to one of three challenges.
Organiser Richard Martin said: “We are hoping to welcome a record number of walkers. Last year 279 walkers took part and thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s a great day out for the whole family as well as a fantastic fundraiser.”
Participants can take part in a 26 mile marathon walk from Abingdon, a 13 mile walk from Wallingford or a 10km walk from Goring-on-Thames. All walks finish at Beale Park near Pangbourne, in Berkshire.
Benson resident Bev Watson encouraged people to sign up.
The 56-year-old, who walked last year, said: “The route was perfect and mostly flat. It was a great way to raise funds for while enjoying a walk in the Oxfordshire countryside. There were even a couple of cake stops to keep energy up.”
Former British gymnast and Against Breast Cancer patron Suzanne Dando-Reynolds said the walk generated ‘vital’ funds for ‘ground-breaking’ research.
