ABINGDON: Councillors held a minute's silence and prayed for the bomb-struck Belgian capital.

Abingdon Town Council paid tribute to the 31 people who were killed in Brussels during Tuesday's terror attacks.

Mayor Helen Pighills lead the minute's silence at a meeting on Wednesday, before Mike Badcock said a prayer for the country and for the town's twinned city of Sint-Niklaas.

So-called Islamic State claimed responsibility for the suicide bombings in Maelbeek metro and Zaventem airport.
