THE Stansfeld Outdoor Education Centre in Headington is set to have an exciting new future with the Oxford Trust - also known as Science Oxford.

The Trust's vision is to create an innovation and education centre on the eighteen acre site in addition to rejuvenating the site's woodland environment.

It is hoped this will support outdoor science education, biodiversity and also provide managed public access into the private location.

A spokesman for the Trust said: "The Trust would engage the knowledge and proven experience of the Science Oxford Schools team, along with content partners, to create, develop and deliver exciting activities that combine both natural and physical sciences.

"An innovation centre for start-up companies and entrepreneurs working in science and technology, capitalising on the site’s setting close to Oxford Brookes University and the city’s heath and data sciences science quarter on the Old Road Campus in Headington. "

Should plans go ahead, it is expected the innovation centre at the Stansfeld site will be twinned with The Oxford Centre for Innovation.

The Trust will work in partnership with environmental charity The Sylva Foundation to improve and manage the woodland.

Sylva works across Britain caring for forests, to ensure they thrive for people and for nature, and supporting innovation in home-grown wood.
