WARRINGTON'S empty Toys R' Us has been sold – more than a year after the company's collapse.
The Gemini store closed in April last year after the nationwide failure of the retailer.
Car firm Arnold Clark, which has premises close by on Gemini Retail park, has bought the unit in a deal involving Morgan Williams and FI Real Estate Management (FIREM).
Work has started on the site over the past week.
FIREM has sold a number of the former toy firm buildings over the past 18 months including many in the north west as well as those in Swindon, Doncaster, Coventry, Oxford and Peterborough.
The Warrington store was the only remaining one in the north west still being listed for sale or rent by FIREM.
As of 2017, it has a rateable value of £695,000 and rates payable of £342,635.
