AS gym administrator at RAF Benson, near Wallingford, part of Jane Goodfellow’s job is overseeing the health and well-being of staff on the helicopter base.
Now service personnel and their famliies are rallying round Mrs Goodfellow after she was diagnosed with inoperable brain tumours earlier this year.
On Saturday, staff at the base gathered in the Eagles social club for a fundraiser for Mrs Goodfellow, who lives at the base with her husband Tony, 42, a helicopter engineer, and their son Alexander, eight.
The event was called Mad As A Hatter, and money raised is being split between the RAF Benevolent Fund and a trust fund for Alexander, with about £1,000 already donated.
Mrs Goodfellow said: “I can’t believe how much has been donated already. We are so grateful to everyone.”
