FIFTY footballers arrived at Little Milton Recreation Ground at dawn to embark on a gruelling 16-hour football marathon for the Prostate Cancer Charity.
Each team played 12 five-a-side matches each before the winning five were awarded their trophy by ex-Chelsea striker Kerry Dixon.
The all-day event on Sunday which also featured a bouncy castle a hog roast and other games raised about £2,000.
Organiser Gary Stacey said: “It was brilliant – everything went to plan. We had 50 footballers, all guys, so we thought this would be an appropriate cause.
“It was pretty hard work, but everyone had a brilliant time – one to remember.”
Each year, 37,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer and one man an hour dies from it. Peter Matthews, 71, from Thame, was diagnosed with prostate cancer a fortnight ago and went along. He said: “They organised a great event and it was well supported.”
