WORK to install a “shared surface” for traffic and pedestrians in Hensington Street, Woodstock, which was due to be completed yesterday, will run into next week.

Contractors carrying out the work hope to be able to reopen the road by Tuesday or Wednesday. It has been closed since July 30.

The alterations are being carried out on behalf of developer Pye Homes under an agreement linked to its housing development off Shipton Road.

The aim is to make the section of the road between Oxford Street and Union Street safer for pedestrians than the old narrow pavement.

Coloured and textured surfaces will delineate the road and pavement areas of the street.
