EMERGENCY services including an ambulance and police helicopter were called to Culham Bridge near Abingdon.
Reports from the scene suggest a group of children got into difficulty in a canoe on the Thames and called for help.
The youngsters had got themselves to safety before emergency services arrived.
The incident happened shortly before 6pm and caused some traffic delays in the area.
An Ambulance spokesman confirmed they were called to the scene but were not required to take any action.
