RESIDENTS in Littlemore deserve better when it comes to the Dominion Oils site.

This is a major piece of land within the community that has sat derelict for more than a decade.

And the latest twist in this long- running saga could see development delayed for a couple more years.

The irony is that everyone involved wants the same thing.

Oxford City Council tells anyone who will listen about the city’s chronic housing shortage and the lack of available land for new homes.

Yet here is a major site – that could house 80 families – that has been left to go to seed.

The developer clearly wants to build, that’s how they make their cash.

The two sides must sit down and resolve the issues.

We are not advocating build at any costs; it must be a good-quality development that adds to the area.

And according to parish councillor Dorian Hancock even residents would like to see it developed – after all it would be an improvement on what is there.

Residents backing development is rare indeed.

So we urge all involved to sit down and sort it out.
