Surely the Government should close its borders to the numerous migrants now coming to the UK for a better life (A Kelly View Points, August 22).

With the economic turndown, the exchequer claims benefits are rising, which no doubt is mainly attributable to thousands of migrants claiming various benefits, together with them taking jobs away from UK workers and additional costs to the NHS when they become ill or injured.

The crime figures continually rise and reading the court cases pages reveals a large proportion of guilt is to what appears as foreign names.

Allowable immigration should be controlled to allow key workers like top doctors or scientists entry to benefit the whole community instead of any Tom, Dick or Harry coming here to scrounge from the soft regulations in the UK.

I am not racially opposed to anyone coming here with good reason.

We should never have joined Europe in the first place, as the rest of the continent is enjoying the UK helping them out.
